According to new the latest statistics release by Gartner, chinese PC manufacturer Lenovo has passed HP as the worlds largest maker of PC's. However, statistics from the IDC say HP remains in first place.

Microsoft has issued an update for Windows 8 ahead of it's official release date of October 26th. The patch includes a number of enhancements which the company says would normally only be made available via a service pack.

December release for Nintendo Wii U console

Nintendo are due to release two versions of their new Wii U console on 8 December in Japan. The basic version will cost 26,250 yen ($337;£210) with a premium version costing 31,500 yen ($405; £251).

HP has warned owners of it's Pavilion series desktop PC's that they are experiencing a "higher than expected" volume of failing motherboards. However instead of issuing a call back of the faulty machines HP have applied an extra 12 months warranty.
