Tablets Windows 8 Microsoft Surface

Microsoft announces Surface, it's new tablet that will run Windows 8 when it is released later this year.  Microsoft hopes the release of the new device will be able to tackle Apple's iPad.  However it will also put the company in direct competition with other tablet Manufacturers who have been preparing for the release of Windows 8.
Folks in the market for a new Windows 8 tablet will have 2 choices when it comes to Microsoft Surface.

The first is based on Intel's x86 technology and comes in at 0.5 inches thick.  It will boast a 10.6 inch display and will run Windows 8 Pro.

The second tablet also boasting a 10.6 inch display will use ARM for it's processing power while being a little slimmer than the intel version at 0.4 inches.

Stoagre oiptions will be eithier 32GB or 64GB.  Reports also suggest that the Chipsets will be built by nVidia.

Both tablets will come with built in "kickstands" allowing the user to adjust the viewing and operating angle.

The cover for Surface doubles up as a keyboard and trackpad.

Microsoft CEO Steve Balmer said they wanted the new Windows 8 software to have "its own companion hardware".

Other manufacturers working on Windows 8 compatible tablets are expected to be aggrevated at Microsoft as they will be required to pay for licensing which will mean their tablets will likely cost more than Microsoft's own piece of kit.
