The most noticeable difference when booting into Windows 8 is it's redesigned user interface dubbed "Metro". It is the biggest shakeup to UI for the company in over a decade. The new OS will be available in a many flavours including all new mobile editions for tablet and touchscreen devices.
Despite being a late comer to the mobile/touch market Microsoft has managed to generate a lot of interest in Windows 8 and it's new Surface Tablet. The software giant hopes to become a major competitior by snapping up some of the competitions sales. It looks like it has every chance of being successful. The company also announced Microsoft Office 2013 this week which has been optimized for Touch Screens.
With most businesses still rolling out Windows 7, Windows 8 is likely targeted at mobile and home users, at least for the initial few months.
