I just download ares and no way to get it connected. I open a port, disabled the firewall but it still showing "connecting"
Any idea?

I do get the "CONNECTING" word but I still manage to download stuffs...just that I can't log into any chat room.

anytime you notice a error like this redownload ares and install again.
no need to remove old copy. removing the build is a last resort.

i have downloaded the old version coz i have a very good experience about this as i had use it before.so, all of you are

hi folks at least i have came to know that why the hell this is happening to us , the problem is trojan, yes the trojan is creating this problem , the solution is here , if you have genuine xp then go to ms website and download " windows defender" install it and update , disconnect from internet and perform a full scan of your machine and at the same time
run your anti virus for a full scan of your system. you will have the trojan , kill it, reconnect the internet and start ares .
wait for a while ( upto 15 to 30 minutes) and you will be online again i am pretty much sure. its worked for me, may it will
work for you. thanx.

If you're having problems with Trojans and such use Comodo BOClean. It's free and will get the job done right.

i'm having bg problem with Ares....
i'm using Maxis Broadband...
and i cant get connected with the ares...
why is that?

i have tried using Ares Connection Fixer..
i have tried waited for 2 hours...
i have tried uninstall it & install it back...

but it just cant connect!!
why is that?

this problem is 'playing' in my head since i change from dial-up to broadband...
when i'm using the dial-up...
it can be connected...

and also...
i tried to use the limewire...and it can be connected and its in 'Excellent Speed'...
that means my pc dont have any problem with the internet connection...

please guys...

ok so Ive heard different reasons ares is not connecting.One of the biggest is spy ware or trojans,well I ran a scan earlier and cleaned my pc clean,and to my surprise are 2.0.9 still was messing up,so I get ares destiny 3.0 and works alot better but still have connection issues! Well Im running xp home with sp2 and cable connection,well everything else is running fine even Limewire loads fine! but I only have issues with ares.so tell me whats my problem and no spyware or anything on this pc!

There is only one place to get Ares from: http://aresgalaxy.sourceforge.net/

A lot of places bundle malware (spyware & trojans) into Ares and rename it. If the official version of Ares isn't working for you then just ditch the program. Get BitTorrent, Frostwire, or eMule and be happy.

Not to mention being wrong. And most all programs offer to install Google, Yahoo, or the Ask Toolbars. So don't single out a good program like Frostwire for doing this.

hai... i will try to help everybody to overcome ares problem.
actually, it is simple.. do you using external modem? or router?
first of all you all need to setup your modem or router.. open a web brouser, type your "default gateway ip address" if you don't know,you can run CMD.exe and then type "ipconfig"...Then,there should be information displayed. copy the ip address, and paste it in your web browser address. the login box should pop up. for most modem and router, the default :

username: admin
password: admin

and some other may,

username: admin
password: password..


if you already log in, now you need to select ADVANCED tab, and look for FIREWALL, then look for SERVICE FILTERING.. if you already get that, now you need to unthick the radio button of "FTP from External Network"

all done,now reboot your modem or router... install ares and select your nickname..
